Build Muscle With Light Weight.
Updated: Dec 27, 2020
Can you build muscle with light dumbbells?
The answer is yes! Isolating the muscle that you are working and letting it do all the work is essential. Simultaneously eliminating other muscle groups from helping with the movement.
As in the example shown in the video, leaning against the wall for the bicep curl prevents you from using momentum and your back muscles to help with the movement. Therefore isolating the biceps.
Another way to build muscle using light weight is to use 1 and 1/2 reps as 1 rep to increase the mechanical tension ( which is one of the factors for muscle building ).
Lastly, pre-exhausting the muscle being worked with a body weight exercise before doing the actual weighted exercise. Our muscles do not know what weight we are using, it only knows the stress that is being placed on it!
Hope this video was enlightening and helped those of you who feel that it was helpless without having heavy weights.
